Does anyone know if MAC cosmetics still does their recycling program?

I remember once upon a time MAC giving out a free product everytime you brought in X amount of empty MAC containers...I just switched back to using MAC and have a couple empty compacts, empty lipstick tubes, eyeshadow containers, a plastic eyeliner, mascara tube etc... Can I bring these back together or do I have to have a certain number of the same item, such as 4 compacts or 5 eyeshadows? Or do they even have that program anymore?

You can either take your empties to the MAC counter at a department store or you can take them to an actual MAC store. Beware, when you just go to the MAC counter at the dept. store you can only trade your empty containers for lip stick, but if you go to a MAC store you can trade for lip gloss and eye shadow as well. It takes 6 empty containers to earn one free item but you can only trade in as many as 18 empties at a time. Hope that helped.

Is it true MAC cosmetics recycles empties?

I have read somewhere that you can take old empty MAC cosmetics containers back to the store and they will give you a new product in eschange for a certain number...like 4 or 5 or something. Is this true? How many items to get a free one? And can you do this at ANY MAC store?
Yes- it's called Back 2 MAC. You take back 6 "primary" containers (including eyeshadow pots, foundation bottles, pigment jars, lipstick or gloss tubes, etc) - they don't even have to be empty- and you can select a free product. At counters, pick any lipstick except Viva Glam collection. At stores, pick any lipstick, gloss, or eyeshadow up to $14 excluding Viva Glam. It works at any MAC store or counter- just not outlets.
